Thomas J. Watson Fellowship

This fellowship is for graduating college seniors at participating institutions for use towards one year of independent study and travel outside the United States. To qualify, applicants must be nominated by a participating institution during their senior year of college. Fellowships must involve travel to areas where the applicant has not lived or studied for a significant length of time. If nominated, applicants must include the following: a proposal for a project that is creative, feasible, and personally significant; a personal statement; a fellowship application form; a personal photo; a copy of their transcript; and letters of recommendation. Recipients must graduate with a bachelor's degree before their fellowship can begin. The stipend for the fellowship year is $25,000 ($35,000 for fellows accompanied by a spouse or dependent child).
