Robert Novak Collegiate Journalism Award

Fund for American Studies 

This award is for undergraduate students currently enrolled in a four-year college or university in the United States. To enter, applicants must submit up to three news stories that has been published in a college or university newspaper/publication or in an online version. Entries must have been written between January 1, 2014 and April 3, 2015. Work published for an internship or for a class assignment is not acceptable. Entries must be news stories; commentary or editorials are not eligible. Judges will recognize students who show initiative and original reporting and superior writing skills, as well as an understanding of the principles of freedom. Quality pieces should demonstrate a skill for accuracy in reporting as well as good use of sources.

Award: $500-$2500

Project Yellow Light Hunter Garner Scholarship

This scholarship is for high school seniors who will complete their high school graduation requirements by or before July 2015; and college students who will be attending school through July 2015. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia. To apply for this scholarship, applicants must create and submit a video designed to motivate, persuade, and encourage teens to not text while driving. Videos are limited to either exactly 25 seconds or exactly 55 seconds. In addition to a scholarship, the winning video will be turned into an Ad Council PSA and will be distributed nationally to 1,600 TV stations.
