$1,000 College JumpStart Scholarship

The College JumpStart Scholarship is an annual, merit-based competition that recognizes students who are committed to using education to better their life and that of their family and/or community.

Applicants must be 10th-12th graders, college students and non-traditional students. The main requirement is that you are committed to going to school and can express your goals for getting a higher education. Applicants must write a 250 word personal statement that answers one of four questions, which will be judged based on content and not writing style.

Association for Women Geoscientists 

This scholarship is for African American, Hispanic, and American Indian women. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be full-time students pursuing an undergraduate degree in the geosciences (geology, geophysics, geochemistry, hydrology, meteorology, physical oceanography, planetary geology, or earth science education) at an accredited college or university. This scholarship is for high school, undergraduate, and graduate students who have been active in tobacco prevention. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must provide evidence of community service activities related to tobacco-use prevention in an underserved community setting (priority populations include residents of low-income communities, US racial/ethnic minorities, GLBT communities, and other populations that have significantly higher-than-average smoking rates). To apply for this scholarship, applicants must create and submit a photo, artwork, or computer graphic for the front of a greeting card. Designs should be appropriate for business and consumer use.
