This scholarship is for high school, undergraduate, and graduate students who have been active in tobacco prevention. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must provide evidence of community service activities related to tobacco-use prevention in an underserved community setting (priority populations include residents of low-income communities, US racial/ethnic minorities, GLBT communities, and other populations that have significantly higher-than-average smoking rates). Applicants must also have a 3.0 GPA, demonstrate financial need, and be pursuing a degree in public health, communications, social work, education, liberal arts, or a related field. To apply for this scholarship, applicants must submit an original piece of communication material that uses visual arts, media, creative writing or other creative endeavor to convey culturally appropriate health messages aimed at raising awareness of tobacco’s harmful impact. Entries may include but not limited to essays, scripts, or sketches for murals or paintings, or recordings for musical scores.
