The Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance Scholarship

Scholarship is open to students who have battled cancer at any point in their lives (not limited to mesothelioma) or who have a parent, sibling, immediate family member or close friend who has battled or is currently fighting cancer. Applicant must be enrolled full-time at an accredited two-year or four-year university, community college or junior college, or a graduate degree program.

Award: $4,000

Four-Legged Finishers

Cats and dogs are twice as likely to get cancer if their owners smokes because of exposure to second- and third-hand smoke – both of which are toxic to pets. Take a picture of your pet (or any animal) and give it a caption that shows how smoking effects pets’ health. Share your picture and you’ll be entered to win the scholarship.

Award: $5,000

Legacy Scholarship Program

Scholarship is open to students who are 18-35 and have lost a parent or guardian to cancer. An exception will be made if you are 17 years of age and entering college in the fall of 2016.

James "Rhio" O'Connor Memorial Scholarship Fund

This scholarship is for undergraduate and graduate students who are currently enrolled in a college or university in the United States and are at least 18 years of age. To apply, applicants must write an essay in response to a given prompt related to cancer. One scholarship will be awarded each month from October 2014 to July 2015; early submissions are encouraged. International students are eligible as long as they are enrolled in a US college or university.

Award: $1000
