Scholarships for Military Children
Fisher House Foundation
This scholarship is for dependent unmarried children of active duty US military personnel, reserve/guard and retired military members, or survivors of service members who died while on active duty or survivors of individuals who died while receiving retired pay from the military. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be younger than 23, have a 3.0 unweighted GPA, and be enrolled or planning to enroll full-time in an undergraduate degree program at an accredited US college/university in fall 2015. Students attending a community or junior college must be enrolled in a program of studies designed to allow them to transfer directly into a four-year program. Applicants should ensure that they, as well as their sponsor, are currently enrolled in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) database and that they have a current dependent military ID card. Applicants who receive an appointment to one of the US Military Academies (or affiliated preparatory schools) or are awarded a full scholarship at any accredited US post-secondary institution are not eligible for this scholarship. Students who have already earned an undergraduate degree or are enrolled in a graduate program are not eligible. Finally, Dependent children of NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), Public Health Service, other federal or military related agencies or activities, or DoD civilian employees are not eligible, unless their parent meets the military requirements stated above. The goal of this scholarship program is to award at least one scholarship per commissary location that receives applications from eligible students.
