Acoustical Society of America Graduate Fellowship for Minorities

This fellowship is for members of ethnic minority groups (Hispanic, African-American, or Native American) that are underrepresented in the sciences. To qualify, applicants must be pursuing graduate study in a field of pure and/or applied science and/or engineering that is directly related to acoustics. Applicants must be able to provide evidence of acceptance into, or good academic standing in, a graduate degree program and be US citizens or permanent residents.

Deadline: March 17, 2014

Award:  $20,000

Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans

This fellowship is for new Americans or children of new Americans. Each fellowship supports up to two years of graduate study in any field and in any advanced degree-granting program in the United States. To qualify for this fellowship, applicants must be green card holders, naturalized citizens, or children of a parent who is a naturalized citizen as of the application date (other parent cannot be a US-born citizen). Applicants must be college seniors or graduate students.

Deadline: November 8, 2013

Award: $25,000-$90,000

Marshall Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to American students to enable them to study in the United Kingdom. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be US citizens, have a bachelor's degree from a four-year US college, and have a minimum 3.7 GPA.

As future leaders, with a lasting understanding of British society, Marshall Scholars strengthen the enduring relationship between the British and American peoples, their governments and their institutions. Marshall Scholars are talented, independent and wide-ranging, and their time as Scholars enhances their intellectual and personal growth. Their direct engagement with Britain through its best academic programmes contributes to their ultimate personal success.

Deadline: Oct. 1

Award: University fees, cost of living expenses, annual book grant, thesis grant, research and daily travel grants, fares to and from the United States and, where applicable, a contribution towards the support of a dependent spouse.
