The Christopher W. Keyser Undergraduate Scholarship

Scholarship is open to undergraduate students enrolled in a four-year college or university in the United States with an interest in the legal or criminal justice fields. Applicants must major in or be actively pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice, Pre-Law Studies, English, History, Political Science, Journalism, or Communications.

Award: $1,500

BBG Communications Scholarship

Scholarship is open to students ages 16 to 21 years of age. Applicant must submit two essay. One essay is on a given topic related to the information and communications technology industry. The second essay must explain why the applicant believes a college/university education is important.

Richard Eaton Foundation Award

Broadcast Education Association (BEA)

This scholarship is for full-time college graduate students who are communications majors studying an area of broadcasting at a BEA Member college. To qualify, applicants should be able to show substantial evidence of superior academic performance and potential to be outstanding electronic media professionals. There should be compelling evidence that the applicants possess high integrity and a well-articulated sense of personal and professional responsibility.

Leroy F. Aarons Scholarship Award

National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association (NLGJA)

This scholarship is for students who are planning to pursue a career in journalism. Applicants must demonstrate an awareness of the issues facing the LGBT community and the importance of fair and accurate news coverage. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be high school seniors or current undergraduate students who who will attend a US community college or four-year university full-time; or undergraduate students who have been accepted for their first year at a US graduate school. For undergraduates, a declared major in journalism and/or communications is desirable but not required. Graduate students must be enrolled in a journalism program. To apply for this scholarship, applicants must provide a one-page resume and five work samples and write and publish a news story to tumblr of words and multimedia (must pick one story topic from a list of four). Public Service Fellows Program

This fellows program is for undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent graduates with a commitment to public service, strong written and oral communications, analytical thinking, and an ability to work well in teams. No single academic major or background is preferred over another. Students who are committed to developing their skills while gaining valuable experience are encouraged to apply. Fellows will have a chance to contribute substantive and meaningful work to support a variety of programs, events, and projects to help revitalize the federal government. All fellowship positions are located in Washington, D.C. at the Partnership for Public Service's offices. Applications for the Spring 2014 term will be accepted beginning September 23rd.

Deadline: November 1, 2013

Award: $800-$1000
