This scholarship is for any fire service Explorer who is an active member of a state, county, provincial, municipal, community, industrial, or federal fire department and who have demonstrated proficiency as such a member. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be graduating high school seniors, be attending an accredited public or proprietary institution, and have a minimum 2.5 GPA.

Actuarial Diversity Scholarship

Actuarial Foundation 

This scholarship is for students who are pursuing a career in the actuarial profession. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must have at least one birth parent who is a member of one of the following minority groups: African American, Hispanic, American Indian or Pacific Islander. Applicants may be high school seniors or current undergraduate students, be enrolled full-time, and have a 3.0 GPA with emphasis on math or actuarial courses. Entering college freshmen must have a minimum ACT math score of 28 or SAT math score of 600.

National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE)

This scholarship is for high school seniors who are members of an underrepresented ethnic minority in the field of engineering: African American, American Indian, or Hispanic. To qualify, applicants must be accepted into an ABET-accredited engineering program at a four-year college/university and be US citizens. Scholarships will be awarded based on GPA, internship/co-op experience and community involvement, faculty recommendations, honors/scholarships/awards, and answers to the questions on the application.

University of Penn Early Exploration Program

This fall, Penn will revive and enhance their fly-in program with a new focus on serving students who are a part of our partner community based organizations in addition to historically underrepresented students attending school in the United States. Penn Admissions will fully sponsor students accepted to this program, which includes all costs associated with food, housing, and transportation.

The program runs from October 12 - October 14, 2014 and allows students to gain a first-hand experience with the academic and social atmosphere at Penn as they continue to hone their college lists. The three goals for this program are:

•  To allow students to explore the interdisciplinary academic paths at Penn 
•  To help students strengthen their applications to highly selective institutions 
•  To inform students about Penn's no-loan, all grant financial aid program

Given Penn's firm commitment to enrolling a talented and diverse class, they are specifically seeking seniors who are from low-socioeconomic backgrounds and/or historically underrepresented groups, including Africa-American, Latino, Native American, Alaska Native, and Native Hawaiian. Leroy F. Aarons Scholarship Award

National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association (NLGJA)

This scholarship is for students who are planning to pursue a career in journalism. Applicants must demonstrate an awareness of the issues facing the LGBT community and the importance of fair and accurate news coverage. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be high school seniors or current undergraduate students who who will attend a US community college or four-year university full-time; or undergraduate students who have been accepted for their first year at a US graduate school. For undergraduates, a declared major in journalism and/or communications is desirable but not required. Graduate students must be enrolled in a journalism program. To apply for this scholarship, applicants must provide a one-page resume and five work samples and write and publish a news story to tumblr of words and multimedia (must pick one story topic from a list of four). Purdue Club of Southern Arizona Scholarship

Intended to encourage and aid students from Southern Arizona who have an interest in attending Purdue University, the Scholarship Fund was established in 1997. The Fund is designed as an endowment, with scholarships financed by earnings from Fund investments. The principal is held and invested by the Purdue Foundation.

As of June 30, 2012 the book value of the Fund was over $30,000 and the Scholarship Account was over $4,000. These balances permit the Club to grant one $2,500 one-year scholarship for the next few years.

High school seniors applying to Purdue University who have been a resident of Sothern Arizona for at least two years. Scholarship recipients will be selected based on a record of achievement and leadership in areas beyond academics, and will be approved by the Purdue Division of Financial Aid.

Anne Ford Scholarship

The 2013-2014 scholarship application is now available. All application items must be postmarked by December 31, 2013. The Anne Ford Scholarship is a $10,000 scholarship ($2,500/year over four years) granted to a graduating high school senior with a documented learning disability who will be enrolled in a full-time bachelor’s degree program in the fall of 2014.

Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship

The 2013-2014 scholarship application is now available. All application items must be postmarked by December 31, 2013. The Allegra Ford Thomas Scholarship is a $2,500 one-time scholarship awarded to a graduating high school senior with a documented learning disability who will be enrolled in a two-year community college, a vocational or technical training program, or a specialized program for students with LD in the fall of 2014.
