Donna Foss Independence Day Essay Scholarship Contest

This scholarship contest is open to US citizens of all national backgrounds that are currently studying in the United States or in an American military school of the country. To qualify, applicants must be high school students, in gradates 9 -12, attending a public, private, alternative, parochial school, or home study program. Recent high school graduates are eligible to participate as long as the deadline of the current contest falls within 12 months after graduation. To apply, applicants must write an essay on the theme, "Happy birthday, America." Applicants may develop the topic in any way they choose and are encouraged to be creative. Essays will be evaluated on the following criteria: creativity, theme development, clarity of ideas, and mechanics.

Award: $1000-$5000

Deadline: July 13, 2014

The CableTV Memorable TV Moment Scholarship

The CableTV Memorable TV Moment Scholarship The Memorable TV Moment Scholarship is currently being offered by CableTV.com. This is a one-time, $1,000 scholarship. To apply: Pick your favorite TV moment of all time and recreate it in an artistic way! Draw, photograph, film, sculpt, or paint it. Show us your creative side, pick any medium you want. Who is eligible? To apply for the scholarship, applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident of the United States.
  • It's simple. Pick your favorite TV moment of all time and recreate it in an artistic way! Draw, photograph, film, sculpt, or paint it. Show us your creative side, pick any medium you want. 
  • Submit your artwork with a brief description of why you chose that particular moment. The brief description is just to give us some context, so make sure your art tells the story. 
  • Make sure that you submit your work in a form we can view. If you are making a video: put it on youtube, send us the link with the description, and upload a screenshot for the photo portion. 
  • One winner will be awarded a $1000 educational scholarship on December 6, 2013 for recreating their favorite TV moment. 
  • All media will be accepted and you don't have to be an artist to enter.
