Youth Free Expression Project Film Contest

Contest is open to individuals either living in the U.S. or its territories (but need not be citizens), and be age 19 or younger on the day the film is submitted. Contestant must submit a film of four minutes or less on the topic, “That’s Not Funny! Can Comedy Cross a Line?”

The Christophers Video Contest for College Students

The Christophers

This contest is for students currently enrolled in and attending a graduate or undergraduate program at a college or university. To enter, applicants must create a film or video that best communicates the message and mission of The Christophers' belief that one person can make a difference. Entries can express this theme in any genre or shooting style. Entries must be five minutes or less in length and submitted on Region 1 or regionless DVDs playable on all standard commercial DVD players. Entries will be judged on overall impact, effectiveness of conveying theme, artistic merit, and technical proficiency.

Award: $100 - $2,000

KODAK Student Scholarship Award

This scholarship program is for university or college students of film, film production, or cinematography at the undergraduate or graduate levels in a degree or diploma program. Applicants must be nominated by the school department or program official. They also must submit a film entry. Applicants will be judged on professional filmmaking potential, academic excellence and the overall quality of the work submitted, with particular attention to expression, interpretation and construction of the visual image.

Award: $3000-$4000

Jack G. Shaheen Mass Communications Scholarship

This scholarship is for Arab-American students who are college juniors, college seniors, or graduate students. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be majoring in mass communications, journalism, radio, television, and/or film. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA, and be US citizens of Arab heritage.

The CableTV Memorable TV Moment Scholarship

The CableTV Memorable TV Moment Scholarship The Memorable TV Moment Scholarship is currently being offered by CableTV.com. This is a one-time, $1,000 scholarship. To apply: Pick your favorite TV moment of all time and recreate it in an artistic way! Draw, photograph, film, sculpt, or paint it. Show us your creative side, pick any medium you want. Who is eligible? To apply for the scholarship, applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident of the United States.
  • It's simple. Pick your favorite TV moment of all time and recreate it in an artistic way! Draw, photograph, film, sculpt, or paint it. Show us your creative side, pick any medium you want. 
  • Submit your artwork with a brief description of why you chose that particular moment. The brief description is just to give us some context, so make sure your art tells the story. 
  • Make sure that you submit your work in a form we can view. If you are making a video: put it on youtube, send us the link with the description, and upload a screenshot for the photo portion. 
  • One winner will be awarded a $1000 educational scholarship on December 6, 2013 for recreating their favorite TV moment. 
  • All media will be accepted and you don't have to be an artist to enter.

TOMORROW! First Generation Film Screening and Resource Fair!!!

Join us TOMORROW for a screening of the documentary film First Generation!!! The free screening is on Thursday, April 25th at 6pm at Pima Community College Center for the Arts, Proscenium Theater - West Campus. It's a feature documentary that chronicles the lives of four high-achieving, low-income high school students as they strive to be first in their families to go to college. The Metropolitan Education Commission is joining La Paloma Family Services and PCC West Campus Office of Student Life to present this special event. There will be a Resource Fair at 5pm to 6pm before the screening. Food Trucks! There will be a Food Truck Round Up accompanying the event from 4:30pm to 6:30pm! 2202 West Anklam, Tucson.
