The Metropolitan Education Commission (MEC) is proud to announce that the 21st Annual Goal One: Graduate!/Meta Numero Uno: Graduar! Poster Contest is underway!  Below is a link to the flyer for the 2016 contest, which outlines how elementary, middle and high school students can enter. Student map and poster competition

Students who’d like to display their works at NACIS 2014 should register for the Student Map and Poster Competition. We encourage all students to submit their maps and technical/research posters for a chance at a prize of $500! There is no entry fee. All entrants will be displayed in the Map Gallery, and the winner will be selected by a ballot of all meeting attendees.

Math-O-Vision Contest

The Neukom Institute for Computational Science, at Dartmouth College, is offering prizes for high school students who create 4-minute movies that show the world of equations we live in. In 240 seconds, using animation, story-telling, humor, or anything you can think of, show us what you see: the patterns, the abstractions, the patterns within the abstractions.

This competition is not just for mathematicians, it's for creative people who want to delve into, and show, the world of equations that surrounds us, the way Math fills our world.

This contest is for registered high school students (grades 9-12) and equivalent home schooled students who are at least 13 years of age. New Name for Rio Nuevo Contest

The "New Name for Rio Nuevo Contest" begins at 5:30 pm on December 10,and ends at 12 noon on January 10, 2013. 

RIO NUEVO is looking to the next generation of Tucson citizens to help us find a new name!

Only Pima County high school seniors are eligible to enter. The new name must reflect Tucson's culture as well as our high hopes for the future.

There will be six semi-finalists, who will each receive a $500 cash scholarship to be used towards the college of your choice. And, if you choose to attend Pima Community College or the University of Arizona, your scholarship will be matched dollar for dollar at those schools.

The winner, will receive a $1,000 cash scholarship and again, the U of A and PCC will match it.

Girls Impact the World Film Festival Scholarship

This scholarship is for high school and undergraduate students who are 25 years of age or under as of the application deadline. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be enrolled full-time and be under 25 years of age. To apply for this scholarship, applicants must submit a 3- to 5-minute film that raises awareness about current issues affecting women and girls and/or proposes solutions to current challenges faced by women. Winners receive a monetary prize as well as an internship opportunity at Creative Visions in Los Angeles, and an official screening will take place at the Harvard University campus in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

The Christophers Video Contest for College Students

This contest is for students currently enrolled in and attending a graduate or undergraduate program at a college or university. To enter, applicants must create a film or video that best communicates the message and mission of The Christophers' belief that one person can make a difference. Entries can express this theme in any genre or shooting style. Entries must be five minutes or less in length and submitted on Region 1 or regionless DVDs playable on all standard commercial DVD players. Entries will be judged on overall impact, effectiveness of conveying theme, artistic merit, and technical proficiency.

Young Patriots Essay Contest

Create Real Impact Contest

This contest is open to residents of the United States who are between the ages of 14 and 22. To enter this contest, applicants must create an original work showcasing an idea for a solution to the problem of reckless and distracted driving, such as texting, talking on the phone, eating, applying makeup, etc. behind the wheel. Applicants may enter as a group or as an individual. Original works are eligible in for the following categories: video, music, creative writing, and artwork. All materials used, filmed, and performed must be original in nature and creation. After finalists are chosen through online voting, qualified judges will choose the Create Real Impact contest winners for each category. Love Your Body: 2014 Poster Contest

The National Organization for Women Foundation hosts an annual poster contest to celebrate the Love Your Body Campaign. The winning posters are featured on the website and used to promote Love Your Body events.

Before submitting posters to the contest, please look at past winners and familiarize yourself with the campaign. Winning posters will be chosen based on how well they counteract the media's use of narrow, unrealistic, negative images of women and/or challenge advertisers that profit from women's dissatisfaction with their bodies.

Posters should be graphically attractive and use a dynamic message. What is Your Idea to Stop Bullying? Energize Students is taking a stand against bullying and we'd like you to join our cause! If you are a teenager (14-19 yrs old), here is your chance to be part of the solution! You may have lived it, you may have feared it, you may have witnessed it, we've all been a part of bullying at one time or another and we want to know what lengths you would go to help protect others from the devastating effects of bullying. Together, we can "say NO to bullying" and make school a safe environment for all students. All it takes is for one person to stand up to it!

How does it work?

** NOTE: Before submitting, please download the Contest Requirements Sheet for full details on how to submit your essay and video. **

Students are asked to submit a video of 4 minutes or less portraying a bullying situation, story line, parody, or scene and what they would do to make a stand against bullying. Energize Students will choose the top videos and then you'll be given the opportunity to vote for your favorite submissions.

Submission period is from September 9 - October 21, 2013. All submissions will be viewable until the voting period. The Energize Students team will then choose the top finalists for the voting period and contact the finalists. The voting period will commence October 28 - November 4, 2013. The top 3 videos that receive the most votes will win cash prizes of up to $800.

All submissions confirm that students have received parental consent to enter the "Say NO to Bullying" Contest and that all students are between the ages of 14 and 19 years old. Those students who qualify for the voting period will be required to submit a completed Contest Consent Form by parent(s) or legal guardian(s) if under the age of 18.

Annual Signet Classic Scholarship Essay Contest

Student Scholarship Essay Contest in which five high school juniors or seniors can each win a $1,000 scholarship award to be used toward their higher education plus a Signet Classics library for their school! ARTBA's Student Transportation Video Contest - $500

Submit a video for a chance to win a $500 cash prize!

There has been a lot of talk about transportation and infrastructure lately, ranging from debates in high school to debates in Congress. The American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) would like to know what you think. Now in its second year, the Transportation Video Contest has just opened, and students of all ages are encouraged to apply!

Video Submission Deadline: August 15, 2013

The top two student videos (one winner in each category), as selected by ARTBA, will each be awarded a $500 cash prize. The winners, along with other submitted videos, may be shown at the ARTBA National Convention. Entrants may work in teams, but only ONE prize is awarded per video. Submitted videos may also be featured on the ARTBA website, screened on YouTube, and/or other promotional venues.
