Prudential Spirit of Community Award

Award is open to students in grades 5-12 who are legal residents of any U.S. state or Washington, D.C. Applicant must have engaged in a volunteer activity that occurred at least partly during the 12 months prior to the date of application.

Award: $5,000

Prudential Spirit of Community Awards

This award is for students in middle school and high school who have made a difference through volunteering over the past year. To qualify, applicants must be in grades 5-12 as of November 4 and legal residents of any US state or Washington DC. Applicants must have engaged in a community service activity that occurred at least partly during the 12 months prior to the date of application submission. Applicants must complete and submit an application to a school principal or the head of an officially designated local organization by the deadline. See website for more details.

Award: $1000-$5000

Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum Student Essay Contest

This contest is open to all public, private, parochial, and home school students in grades five through twelve. To apply, applicants must write an essay on a given topic. All essays must be accompanied by a student release and teacher registration form; see entry form for more details.

Award: $50-$300

National WWII Museum Essay Contest

On June 6, 2014 the world will celebrate the 70th Anniversary of D-Day, the Allied invasion to liberate Europe from Nazi rule. To commemorate the importance of this event, The National WWII Museum asks you to think about a time in your life where you have had to make important plans for success in spite of uncertainty.

This year, The National WWII Museum asks: How Did You Plan to Achieve Success in the Face of the Unknown?

The deadline for submissions is March 28, 2014, 5:00pm CST. Grades 5-12, middle school and high school.

Award: $500-$1000

The Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum Student Essay Contest

This contest is open to all public, private, parochial, and home school students in grades five through twelve. To apply for this contest, applicants must write an essay on a given topic. All essays must be accompanied by a student release and teacher registration form; see entry form for more details.

Initiated in 2002, the annual Essay Contest has become a cornerstone of the Memorial's educational programs. In 2005, the Essay Contest expanded from a state contest to a national one, allowing more students to use this contest as a vehicle for sharing their rich perspective and engaging in the lessons of the Memorial.

Deadline: November 1, 2013

Award: $50-$100
