Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program

Scholarship is open to undergraduate students in good academic standing who are U.S. citizens. Applicant must be receiving a Federal Pell Grant and is applying to or has been accepted into a study abroad program or internship.

Award: Up to $5,000

Marshall Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to American students to enable them to study in the United Kingdom. To qualify, applicants must be US citizens, have a bachelor's degree from a four-year US college, and have a minimum 3.7 GPA. See website for more information.

Award: University fees, cost of living expenses, annual book grant, thesis grant, research and daily travel grants, fares to and from the United States and, where applicable, a contribution towards the support of a dependent spouse.

Ashley Soule Conroy Foundation Scholarship

This scholarship is for students who are planning to participate in full-time study abroad for at least one full semester outside of the United States. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be enrolled as undergraduate students at a four-year college or university in the United States and have completed at least one year of college-level course work or 30 hours of earned credit at the college or university. Applicants must have a 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need. Only spring and fall semester study abroad programs are eligible; applications for spring semester are due by December 1 and applications for Fall semester are due by July 1.

Award: $3000

James J. Davis Memorial Scholarship for Students Studying Abroad

This scholarship is for undergraduate students enrolled in a full academic year or fall, spring, or semester/quarter study abroad program at an accredited university. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be US citizens or US permanent residents. All US students studying abroad through accredited universities, despite program or major, are encouraged to apply. Strong preference will be given to students with financial need. Preference will also be given to students studying in a non-English speaking country and to engineering, math, and science majors. Students abroad for less than eight weeks will not be considered.

Award: $1000

HACU IES Abroad Diversity Scholarship

IES Abroad

This scholarship is for students attending Hispanic-Serving institutions that are members of Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU). To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must apply to, be accepted to, and enroll in a summer, semester, or academic year IES Abroad program. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 out of 4.0. Priority is given to first-generation college students and/or Federal Pell Grant recipients. Applicants must be US citizens or permanent residents.

Award: $2500-$5000

George J. Mitchell Scholarship

US-Ireland Alliance 

This scholarship is for students between the ages of 18 and 29 who hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. The scholarship is for one year of postgraduate study in any discipline offered by colleges and universities in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Scholarship applicants are judged on academic excellence, leadership, and a sustained commitment to service and community. Scholarship award includes tuition, housing, a living expenses stipend, and an international travel stipend. Applicants must be US citizens.

Award: Tuition, accommodation, a stipend for living expenses and travel.

Foundation for Global Scholars Scholarships

These scholarships are for students who are studying abroad for a minimum of four weeks. To qualify for these scholarships, applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or professional degree program at a US college or university where transfer credit from an academic program abroad will be applied to your US degree being earned. Applicants also must have a minimum cumulative 2.5 GPA. Multiple types of scholarships are available; see website for details.

University Language Services Scholarship

This scholarship is for college students who are studying abroad, have studied abroad in the past, or have chosen a study abroad program that they will soon begin. To apply for this scholarship, applicants must submit a photo that they have taken, along with a description of no more than 200 words on why the photo makes them glad they decided to study abroad.

Award: $100-$500

This scholarship is for minority college students who plan to study abroad through a CIEE Study Center program. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be members of a group that has traditionally been underrepresented in study abroad, especially ethnic minority students. To apply for this scholarship, applicants must write an essay explaining how their membership in an underrepresented group has affected their choice of program/destination and how they plan to integrate their study abroad experience into their future endeavors.

Deadline: April 1, 2014 

Award: $1000-$1500

IES Legacy Scholarships

This scholarship is for students whose parent, legal guardian, grandparent, or sibling attended a past IES (Institute of Education Sciences) study abroad program. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must attend an IES program, and be enrolled at a university that is a member or associate member of the IES Abroad Consortium and transfers at least 75% of homeschool aid to IES. This scholarship is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, so applicants are urged to submit their materials as early as possible.

Award: $500 - $1,000
