DEED Educational Scholarships

American Public Power Association (APPA)

This scholarship is for full-time students attending an accredited college, university, or vocational institution in the United States. To qualify, applicants must be working toward a technical career that is in short supply and high demand by electric utilities. Each applicant must be attending school in a county with at least one DEED member utility and must be sponsored by a DEED member utility, located in the following states: Alabama, Alaska, American Samoa, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Guam, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.

Award: $2000

CFA Institute 11 September Memorial Scholarship Program

This scholarship is for victims who were permanently disabled as a direct result of the September 11th attacks, and dependent children, spouses, and domestic partners of those who died or were permanently disabled as a direct result of the September 11th attacks. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be planning to enroll or already enrolled in part- or full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or vocational-technical school in the upcoming academic year. Applicants must be planning to pursue a degree in finance, economics, accounting, or business ethics. Scholarships are awarded based on academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal. Financial need must be demonstrated for the student to receive an award.

Award: $25,000

Arizona Elks Vocational Grant Award

This grant award is available to any graduating Senior High School student planning to pursue an eligible Vocational/Technical Course, above and supplemental to High School or Preparatory School, may apply . In addition to being a U.S. Citizen, each applicant must be a current resident of the State of Arizona on the date this application is filed.
