American Legion Baseball Scholarship

This scholarship is for high school baseball players who are on the American Legion National Baseball roster that has been filed with national headquarters. Applicants must be a part of a team affiliated with an American Legion Post. The scholarship may be used to attend an a state accredited, post-secondary school. Any team manager or head coach of an American Legion (Post-affiliated) team may nominate one player for consideration of this award. Applicants must have three letters of recommendation, one each from the following: legion coach or team manager; American Legion Post Commander or Adjutant; and a community leader (i.e., teacher, minister, scout leader, church leader, principal). Each department baseball committee will select a player from their department to receive this scholarship. Scholarship recipients must graduate from an accredited high school to be eligible to receive their scholarships and utilize the total award within eight years of their graduation date, excluding active military duty.

American Ground Water Trust Annual Scholarships

These scholarships are for students entering their college freshman year, who intend to pursue a career in a ground water-related field. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA in high school and be US citizens or legal residents. The college or university selected for study must offer appropriate courses. To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must either have completed a science/environmental project at high school that directly involved ground water resources, or have had vacation/out-of-school work experience that is related to the environment and natural resources.

Pedro Zamora Young Leaders Scholarship

National AIDS Memorial Grove 

This scholarship is for high school seniors and college freshmen, sophomores, and juniors (ages 26 and younger) who demonstrate an active commitment to fighting AIDS and have taken on roles of public service and leadership (for example, providing peer-based prevention and education; advocacy or activism; public awareness; and/or practical, emotional, or treatment support to people living with HIV/AIDS). Applicants also must intend to pursue a career that will have a clear and demonstrable impact on the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

The Emma L. Bowen Foundation for Minority Interests in Media is currently recruiting nationwide for multi-year, paid internship positions at media companies across the U.S.

Minority students who are graduating high school seniors or college freshmen, have at least a 3.0 GPA, an interest in the media industry, and plan to attend a four-year college are eligible to apply to the program. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal residents, and speak and write English fluently. The Emma L. Bowen Foundation is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to prepare minority students for careers in the media. The Foundation will celebrate its 25th Anniversary in 2014! The program focuses on scholastic achievement, direct work experience and professional development. Students work each summer until graduation from college and earn both salaries and matching scholarship funds. Over a period four years, the students experience numerous aspects of corporate operations and develop company-specific skills with the goal of full-time employment after graduation. The Foundation provides additional professional development opportunities at its annual summer conferences, Link Mentoring program and New Media and Technology program. Approximately 250 students currently participate as interns with 40 partner companies, including some of the nation’s largest and most influential media firms and vendors in broadcast television, cable, and film.
