There is no citizenship requirement, but students must have attended or are attending a high school in the U.S. Applicant must submit a poetry slam on the theme: “what makes you get up and greet the day?”

Frame My Future Scholarship Contest

This scholarship is for students attending a US college or university full-time for the 2015-2016 academic year (community college, undergraduate, or graduate school). To qualify, applicants must be legal US residents. To apply, applicants must create an original, creative entry piece that reflects the given topic. The piece may be a photograph, collage, poem, drawing, painting, graphic design, typed essay, scrapbook style page, or anything that can be created within one image. The entry must be the applicants' own work.

FLAWLESS SCHOLARSHIP SLAM

There's a lot of information coming at you every day, and a lot of it can make you think you need to change: change how you look, behave, dress or talk to be more worthy or appealing.

Instead of focusing on the things that make you feel like you're not good enough, you should focus on a message from one of our favorite role models and tell about what makes you FLAWLESS. Whether you woke up like this or you had to work hard to achieve it, write a poem about an aspect of yourself that is worthy of respect and admiration — and you could win $1,000 towards your college education! 25 years or younger/or high school student.

It's All Up to You (Scholarship Slam)

Calling all poets! You are the writers of intimate dialogue with the world and emotion. Power Poetry invites you to participate in one of the countless opportunities that our feelings can experience. They ask for your desired words to scatter the page and overstep the boundaries of every day structure. Today, the world relies on your efforts to write and protect true history—the one we each survive with. Tell your story with the melody of a poem. Be proactive and share what you have hidden for the right occasion. This is the occasion. You are the poet.

Today they invite you to tell them the poem untold. That’s why for this scholarship slam, it’s all up to you! Submit an original poem about anything at all, and you may win $1,000 to put towards your college education.

"Why I Write" Scholarship Slam - $1000-$2000

This scholarship is for students who are between the ages of 13 and 25 years of age and residents of the 50 United States, DC, or Puerto Rico. To apply, youth are encouraged to express what poetry means to them and how they were introduced to this written form. Winners will be chosen at random after the Power Poetry team performs quality checks to ensure poems are not plagiarized and that applicants have only submitted one poem each.

Do you remember when you first realized that writing poetry was a good way to express yourself and reflect your deepest thoughts? Obviously writing poetry is important to you, but the reasons for writing differ for every poet. Here’s a chance for you to share a poem about how poetry came to be a part of your life story. Submit a poem about what poetry means to you for your chance to win $1,000 to put towards your college education.

1800wheelchair.com 2013 Scholarship - $500

1800wheelchair scholarship now awards two $500 scholarships each year. Past topics have explored mobility issues on campus and much more. To enter the scholarship students must follow these guidelines:

Write a poem, in a style of your choosing, on the theme of overcoming a personal challenge. Please include a personal statement about yourself and how the poem reflects on your personal experience. The poem and essay (combined) should run at 750 to 1,000 words, free feel to write a little more or less.

Participants must meet the following criteria:
  • Enrolled at an accredited high school, college or university in the U.S.
  • Enrolled at the undergraduate level or your final year of high school
  • Age sixteen (16) years or older
  • Attending a U.S. based institution
  • Carry a status of “Good Standing” - i.e. currently enrolled
  • Maintain a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.0 (or equivalent)
  • Post marked by May 30th, 2013
Please note:
  • There is no formal printed application from 1800wheelchair, all the information is on their web page
  • There is no requirement in terms of physical disability or ability. All applications are welcome
  • We do not accept fax or email applications
  • Please send your application via regular mail, no express mail will be accepted
  • Send your written response and contact information
  • Do not send any CD ROMs, letters of recommendations, tax returns, bank balances, resumes or CVs
